Final paycheck — discharged

Next regular payday

Termination/suspension: wages due by next regular payday for the period in which wages were earned. Commission wages within 30 days. Iowa Code §91A.4.

Final paycheck — voluntary quit

Next regular payday

Same — next regular payday for pay period worked. Iowa Code §91A.4.

Waiting-time penalty

Liquidated damages up to 5% of unpaid wages per day for intentional violation, plus court costs and attorney's fees. Iowa Code §91A.8.

Penalty applies only when the employer willfully fails to pay. A good-faith dispute over the amount may waive the penalty — but the standard is fact-intensive.
