Local minimum-wage callouts

Many cities post a higher minimum wage than the state. Seattle, NYC (large employers), Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, Minneapolis, and Portland-OR are common high-watermarks. Tap a state to see local callouts on its detail page.

Tipped & youth wages

The federal tipped minimum wage is $2.13/hr cash wage, with the employer required to make up the difference if tips don't bring total compensation to the federal $7.25/hr floor. Several states (CA, NV, MN, MT, OR, WA, AK) prohibit tip credits entirely. Federal youth minimum wage is $4.25/hr for employees under 20 during the first 90 consecutive days of employment.
